Invitation and Welcome - Mayor Danny Jones

If you are a classic car owner, like I am, the Boulevard in Charleston once again will be the place to be this October.
The Charleston Boulevard Rod Run & Doo Wop is preparing for our third annual gathering October 2-5, 2008 after an effective introduction in 2006 and a tremendously successful encore during in 2007. Nearly 600 cars lined the Boulevard along the Kanawha River during the Rod Run and Doo Wop last fall, and several thousand people watched the fireworks, free concerts, burnout contest and other special events during the weekend.
Our success over the past two years could not have been achieved without you, the classic car lovers and sponsors. This year, as word about this special event continues to spread, we expect even more car owners and spectators to come to Charleston from throughout the region to join the fun.
I thank the sponsors who have made this event possible. Many of you were on board before you had a chance to witness the huge crowds that have come to this event. With growing interest and swelling crowds, sponsors will continue to gain more benefit and reach more people. I also thank the car owners who come to our city. I should warn you, though, that this event is growing so fast that you’ll need to pre-register or show up early that weekend to make sure you get a space on the Boulevard. Space is limited, although there are no limits to your potential for fun, excitement and sponsorship benefits.
Together, we are making the Charleston Boulevard Rod Run & Doo Wop and annual classic.
See you there!
